Friday the Thirteenth can't hurt you. In fact, holidays very rarely hurt, maim, or kill people. But allow me to point you to a bit of psychology known as the "paradigm" effect.

The paradigm effect?

Yes, Newsletter Reader, the paradigm effect. In simple terms, it's where you have an idea in your brain (referred to as a paradigm) and no matter what evidence is presented, you find some way to support your paradigm.

But my favorite cat died on Friday the 13th!
